Clarrie Beardsmore is the founder of Prime Explosives. He has over 45 years' experience in the mining and quarrying industry across the Asia-Pacific region — expertise that remains at the heart of everything we do.
Returning to New Zealand in 1992, Clarrie established Prime Explosives in 1993 to bring an independent, service-led approach to explosives supply — combining world-class technical knowledge with genuine local ownership.
Four years as New Zealand Technical Representative, then Technical Representative for South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory — introducing the Detaline® system to Readymix South Australia.
Conducted underground courses at Roxby Downs Uranium Mine, and designed and loaded mass blasts for Peko Wallsend over three years across the Australian resources sector.
Promoted to Regional Manager (SA, NT, Tasmania) in 1988, then WA and NT in 1990 — marketing over 115,000 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate before returning to NZ in 1992.
